Beth Gualda When I'm writing one of my own books, as I am now, I tend not to read books just because the reading and the writing compete for my free time. I am sneaking a couple of hours reading whenever I'm at the beach lately. The beach is one of my favorite places to read. I'm just grabbing whatever paperback is handy. I don't ever have anything in particular in mind. Usually just a lighthearted, juicy romance. (Go figure.)
Beth Gualda This may sound biased, but without a doubt, Mya and Percy from my Moonlit Wings series. I wrote them to be not so much a perfect couple, but an ideal couple. They have a loving, committed relationship that has grown and deepened the longer they've been together and even though they have experienced the occasional dust-up, their love helped them come to the right resolutions.
Beth Gualda I write through it. I keep writing even if I don't like what I'm writing because I know I can always go back and change what I don't like when I get to the point I'm writing well again.
Beth Gualda Being able to create new places, people, situations, and things and share them with other people to bring them enjoyment.
Beth Gualda First and foremost, write what you want to read. Write for yourself and no one else. Take pride in your work and make it the best it can possibly be before you publish. Also get as much feedback as you can and don't be afraid to rewrite any parts that aren't perfect. Don't get discouraged by rejection, either. Be able to take constructive criticism and learn from it.
Beth Gualda The third book in The Heaven Sent series is titled, The Angel of Weathered Storms, and while I haven't actually sat down to write any of it, I have a good deal of the plot, many scenes and dialog, and the two main characters already developed in my head. When I come up with the right first chapter and opening paragraph for this book, I will begin to write it in earnest.
Beth Gualda I'm always ready to write because I always have ideas in my head I want to get down before I forget them. I get ideas for scenes, dialog, and plots for books from everything around me. Certain experiences I have will stay with me and impress me enough to build a story around it. A lot of the time, when I'm in the middle of writing one book, something in that book will spawn an idea for another, or a minor character I introduce develops in my mind to the point I need to tell their story, too.
Beth Gualda I got the idea for a storyline for The Angel of Reasons and Rhyme while writing a scene in the first book of the series, The Angel of All That Matters In it, two of the main characters, the angels, Aksariel and Kinnael, were having a conversation about being in love and Kinney mentions a woman from his past.
