Truthfully? Getting a literary agent. I've done as well as possible self-publishing but I feel lately as though I'm bleating out in the wilderness. I have a completed novel about an elite private school in Santa Monica coupled with an international Russian car theft operation. This time I'm looking for a traditional publisher.

Crash through your story to the end any old whichway. Don't worry about chapters or spelling or grammar. Get the story down. Then hire a professional editor who has been recommended to you and listen to what the editor says.

So far it hasn't really been an issue that's hung me up for long. Sure, there are days when I'd sooner play Spider Solitaire but the voices of my characters are pretty insistent. Also I figure if you don't show up when The Muse expects you, she'll quit showing up. And I am very respectful of my muse.
