Jane Sutcliffe I often tell students that creativity is a muscle; it's got to be exercised to get stronger. The best thing an aspiring writer can do is to write, and the second best is to read. Don't worry if your writing is not perfect at first. Just keep honing and polishing. I also highly recommend that an aspiring children's writer join the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and especially join a critique group. I can't praise my critique group friends enough!
Jane Sutcliffe I have just finished writing a new picture book about the great William Shakespeare and the many words and phrases he has intoduced into the English language--words and phrases we use every day without giving him credit.
