The best thing an aspiring writer can do is to write, and the second best is to read. Don't worry if your writing is not perfect at first. Just keep honing and polishing. I also highly recommend that an aspiring children's writer join the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and especially join a critique group. I can't praise my critique group friends enough!(less)
