Biff Mitchell I would go back to the 50s world in Stephen King's "IT" where I would ride a bike and chase demons.
Biff Mitchell When I was a kid, we used to visit a "haunted" house a few blocks away from where I lived. It was a big, deserted mansion-style house. On the second floor at the back of the house we counted five windows. Inside though, there were only four rooms, each with one window. I think the plot would center around the search for the room with that extra window.
Biff Mitchell I've been teaching creative writing workshops for over 10 years. One day, sitting in a coffee shop, drinking coffee, I noticed the grains of coffee on the bottom of the cup formed letters, and then words, and then a sentence: Turn your workshop into a book, Biff. So I did.
Biff Mitchell An idea comes to me. I think about over a cup of coffee. I make notes about it, generally in a coffee shop. I spend a lot of time in coffee shops. I put the idea aside for a while, but I keep going to the coffee shops. If I'm still excited about the idea after a month or two, I start writing. I find that coffee helps with this part.
Biff Mitchell Sorry. I never talk about something I'm writing about. No matte how many coffees I've had.
Biff Mitchell Write every day, even if it's just for a few minutes. And drink lots of coffee.
Biff Mitchell I'd have to say it's the fame, glory and riches that I'm told will come my way. Some day. In the meantime, I'll have another cup of coffee.
Biff Mitchell Coffee. Mindless writing as in just writing the first thing that comes into my head until the words start flowing. More coffee. Keeping calm and knowing that the block will pass so...why not have another cup of coffee?
