An idea comes to me. I think about over a cup of coffee. I make notes about it, generally in a coffee shop. I spend a lot of time in coffee shops. I put the idea aside for a while, but I keep going to the coffee shops. If I'm still excited about the idea after a month or two, I start writing. I find that coffee helps with this part.
