Eric J. Juneau I try to treat writer's block as an illusion. At the top of each first draft I write, in bold, "I GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO WRITE BADLY". This keeps me moving forward on the manuscript, because I have the knowledge I can always "fix it in post".
Eric J. Juneau It's like playind with dolls... I mean action figures... as an adult
Eric J. Juneau I keep a list of story ideas and always add to it. Over time, some ideas gather more ideas than others, and that snowballs into something resembling a story. Good ideas tend to snowball well.

The other part is dedication of time and dedication of energy. I write every work day at lunch. This way I know that at least SOME progress is being made in a forward direction.
Eric J. Juneau I can't remember what exactly sparked the idea. I'd always wanted to write about mermaids, but never really had a spark or plot concept or "what if". Then it hit me when I was at work. I had a very powerful image in my head of a Han Solo-type rogue standing in front of a giant aquarium with his hand on the glass. The tank was filled with a beautiful mermaid with an eight foot serpentine tail, her hand on the glass too. The future vs. fantasy dichotomy fascinated me, and I kept gathering ideas on world-building and characterization.
