Barbara G. Tarn "Write a two-sentence horror story." Runs away screaming in sheer terror at the simple thought.
Barbara G. Tarn I'm 52, with my current body nowhere seems appealing, unless there's a place in the future where they can sort of rejuvenate me and give be UBI (universal basic income). I haven't written that story, yet, but maybe I will - although all utopias have dark sides, don't they?
Barbara G. Tarn I'm afraid l don't write mystery for a reason... I don't read any either! I'd rather make up stuff in a fantasy world - l'm bad at suspence!
Barbara G. Tarn I don't have a favorite at thist time - probably because I'm aromantic, so... no thanks. If you mean simply a couple of characters who work together or ar BFF or whatnot... I don't know the answer to that either! ;)
I simply don't have favorites, although I have persistent muses who keep popping in my head and inspire me, but I guess that doesn't count, does it?
Barbara G. Tarn currently, the latest published ebook is a novella called Cinder Boy. It's a retelling of Cinderella as m/m romance.
Next month (July 2016) I'll publish Quests Book 1 and 2 - the idea came from having three characters in search of a story. It was supposed to be a short story, turned out into two short novels. Book 1 has all three plus a fourth that was also in need of a story and who is the younger cousin of one of the three. Thus Book 2 follows the two cousins only. Book 1 is 45K, Book 2 is 35K, so after the summer I'll publish Quests volume one with both. And during the summer I'll write book 3, 4 and 5 about secondary characters who appeared in the first two books - or maybe not. Again, it's characters looking for a story and I'm sure I'll find what their story is about when I get to writing it down, like it happened for the first two! :)
Barbara G. Tarn IMHO beta-readers shouldn't do it for cash.
If you want to make some cash, do editing, or proofreading.
Or, like you said, reading for audio books (you can probably sign up as narrator to those audio sites - I'm not doing audio books at this time, so I haven't researched the topic).
Or learn formatting ebooks and offer the service to writers.
Other authors might be willing to pay for beta-readers, though, so you never know...
Best!
Barbara G. Tarn More Tales of the Southern Kingdoms volume 2 - and then I'll make sure to do new editions of all the Tales of the Southern Kingdoms with printed version and not just e-books! ;)
Barbara G. Tarn anything, really. What if...?, reversing situations I witness (either in movies or reality), things that happen to me or around me... and I have people talking in my head all the time, so I might look like I'm listening to you, but maybe my mind has wandered off... :)
Barbara G. Tarn Don't give up. Just keep writing. The first million words will suck anyway... ;) But you'll get better! As long as you like telling stories, you'll be all right...
Barbara G. Tarn making stuff up, creating worlds, watching characters interact in my head...
Barbara G. Tarn erm... I don't know what writer's block is... I'm very prolific and have very few unfinished stories... Sorry! :)
