Thanks very much Roger. It's brilliant to know you enjoy my books. I'm working very hard on the second draft of the sixth book in the Katherine Wheel Series, Ivy, and hope to publish next month. Watch this space!

For the Rose Trail, it was an experience I had donkeys years ago. I was viewing an empty house for work purposes and I had an extraordinary frisson of electricity. I saw the house, and the people who lived in it, in the style of the 1600s. I knew them instantly and recognised their features. It has taken nearly 40 years to realise them on paper but I recall the sensation and the visual images as if it were yesterday.

Dreams, often unfortunately in the nadir of the night at about 3 am. Have to keep a notebook handy by my bed! And daydreaming, when the mind stretches and relaxes enough to listen to the subconcious, where all the good ideas hide.

Glad you asked me this. The second draft of the sequel to Daffodils is now completed and is back with beta readers before a final lick and polish. Jane Dixon Smith (ace cover artist) is working with me on the cover. I'm hoping to launch Peace Lily in September at the Tenby Book Fair.
Then I'm about a third of the way through a completely different book, called The Rose Trail. It's a ghost story set against the backdrop of the Civil War in England - a fascinating time of great political upheaval when the democracy we enjoy today was born - but that's just the setting. The story is about two psychic detectives who meet by chance (no such thing of course) and unravel the story of the three restless souls who haunt the home of one of them. I'm shivering just remembering it....

Don't hold back. Don't put it off. Go after that muse. It might be as elusive as a butterfly but you'll never catch it unless you chase it. It won't come and find you during your displacement activities.
Plus, find a peer review site for others to critique your work and where you can learn from critiquing theirs. I learned a huge amount from the generous contributors on www.youwriteon.com.

Escaping into a world you have created. Time is meaningless and flies by unheeded. While in a 'writing vortex' it can be a thrilling ride but it is also satisfying to hone, correct, re-read and craft the work until you have that wonderful sense of completion. Hang on! It's never finished! Never perfect - I'll rephrase that - as good as I can make it at my current level of ability. Always learning - and I love that too.

Walk on the beach, physical activity, bend some poor friend's ear, get in the shed and don't leave until writing has commenced, by which time it usually flows. If it doesn't, everyone suffers.
