First of all, embrace your fear. Writers never lose the fear (at least I never have) but you can learn to work with it. It's a good thing that you have a lot of ideas- have a think about which ideas persistently return to you. That would be a possible place to start. You could also try writing some short stories to explore a lot of different storylines. Then just write, write, write! Even if you don't initially like what you have written it will give you a starting point. Hope this helps

Thank you for your openness, I think that there are a lot of similarities here with Warda. I also find Holy Communion an emotional experience. I don't know how far into the book you are and don't want to drop any spoilers but I hope you will find some comfort in the final part of the book. The priest's words are not only for Warda. God bless.

Hi Linda, lovely to link up with you on Goodreads. Thank you for your comments, I hope you are OK. I very much write from the heart, as you have rightly guessed. Like you, the theme of misplaced guilt runs very deep with me, but also the themes of betrayal, rejection, displacement and abuse. I have always believed that writers are either chasing a dream or confronting a nightmare, the latter being true for me.

I am on holiday this week but will ask the publisher to send me the discussion guide if this would be helpful?

When I was 18, I got into difficulties while swimming off the coast of Tel Aviv. A surfer rushed into the water, pulling me out just in time and I collapsed in his arms. I have no idea who he was or the other people who dragged me onto the beach and comforted me while the ambulance arrived. I am not sure this provides enough material for a book, but if I ever discovered the identities of these wonderful people and where they came from, I would love to dedicate a book to them.

The voyage into the unknown. I try not to write very detailed plans before I start writing a book because I want to be swept up into the adventure, just as I would be if I were reading a book for the first time. There is something very exciting about inhabiting an imaginative world where virtually anything might happen and where the characters you create have the power to surprise you from time to time.
