I'm currently working on the outline for a spiritual/crime fiction novel that incorporates metaphysical wisdom, a whodunit format and the relationship between the main characters in the book, a mother and daughter whose quirky, fun-loving and empowered relationship lies at the heart of the story.

Writing is also the way I find out about myself, what I truly believe about life. And as I write poetry, song lyrics, articles, short storiies, novels and essays then I have given myself many wonderful and wondrous ways to express. What's not to like about that?!

I feel an impulse arising within me, most often that's how it will start. Something wants to express itself and I allow myself to be the vehicle, the vessel for that. Other times I write to have a sane outlet for my painful emotions. At other times I write when I feel deeply moved in some way.
I have learned to trust these impulses and don't push or force myself to write. I find pushing myself to be counterproductive and that creates a sense of tension rather than joyful expression - which kind of defeats the whole purpose of creative expression...

Write your passion, write your truth! Anything else is just an exercise. When you write from the space of your inner truth then your writing connects with the inner truth of us all. Of course you have to investigate and discover what your truth really is beyond the dictates and imposed beliefs of society, family et al but that investigation is a writing journey in itself!

I step into the Awareness that whatever gave me the initial creative impulse is what is actually writing through me. So I let that 'me' get out of the way and allow that greater Presence to create through me. That Presence doesn't know what writer's block is! It only knows what it wants to create.
