Ian McLean I tend to develop my plot lines when I'm away from sitting in front of the computer. Many times the plot lines will come to me when I'm driving or just before I fall asleep. The trick then is to remember the direction that I thought the plot should go. So far, that's worked for me and avoids "writer's block".
Ian McLean I love when people get so wrapped up in the story line and they ask me about the characters in my book. It seems, and I'm pleased that this happens, that people become attached to my book characters and start to care for them or hate them depending on the plot and story line. I get gratification from that effect.
Ian McLean Just write. I think a lot of people write one or two chapters and then run out of inspiration or question if they can do it. I'd suggest sitting down in front of whatever medium you have to write with and go ahead and write. It's amazing what can pour forth.
Ian McLean I'm currently working on Omnipotent 3 which introduces the concept of integrating the Gauntlet Weapons system with Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.
Ian McLean Writing gives me freedom to explore "what ifs" without constraints on imagination. I find writing to be cathartic.
Ian McLean I was in the Canadian Air Force for 25 years as a pilot. I blended realism with fictional weapons development to arrive at the plot.
