Ian McLean grew up in London Ontario. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in Sept of 1980 and received his Canadian Air Force wings in Sept of 1982.
Ian first flew the C 130 Hercules transport aircraft in Strategic, Tactical and Search and Rescue missions. Following this tour, he was selected to Fighter Aircraft. Having completed his training on the CF5 Freedom Fighter and the CF18 Hornet, he served extensively in the F18 community. In addition to his operational roles Mr. McLean was selected as Snowbird 7, Outer Left Wing for the 1998 and 1999 airshow seasons. He eventually returned to command the Snowbird team and Squadron for the 2005 and 2006 airshow seasons as Snowbird 1.
