"Peril" by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. It seems too nice to be true.

"Sarah The Assassin's Girlfriend" is a spy novel with many subplots generated by my own life. For example, a peculiar job interview which might(?) have been set-up to obtain high tech secrets; hit and run car accidents to eliminate an unwanted individual; old mansions built in the1920s now repurposed by agents and/or ghosts. I dare not reveal exactly what is true to life or not...for obvious reasons: I want to keep breathing,

My most recent book is "Sarah The Assassin's Girlfriend" . Sarah is a fitness instructor at a London gym who meets decorated veteran Jason Palmer, but they both have secrets. She knows from experience that falling is love is dangerous. Jason's secret is that he is an assassin.
The plot came to me from various news items and my life experiences all re-visited with my "creative" paranoia.
For example, "Chapter 8" is based upon a peculiar job interview I had a few years ago. Also there are certain well known problematic issues in society: international criminal gangs; secret "intelligence" agencies; war; the challenges of family values; missing or murdered women.
I usually write comedy and so I found this book to be quite hard work; however I persevered and I am very happy with the result! It is exactly what I set out to accomplish.

When I was first married my wife began a new job as a journalist and asked me to edit her work. Later I became involved with Christmas Skit Nights at my office. This was fun, writing a short ten minute skit which would always generate laughs since the audience had usually imbibed some (???) alcohol.
Of course I was often an actor: for example, a pregnant woman screaming while delivering a baby ON STAGE, and a tipsy reporter interviewing a "mad" scientist. (Tipsy was supposed to be late in the script but I started drinking early).

I don't start typing until I have decided upon what I want to say. Then I imagine that I am writing a theatrical PLAY. I select the particularly dramatic scenes which I observed or imagined months or years ago: crucial conflicts; perfect comedic situations; the times of intense emotional pain. Then I decide on what I want to say in the first or second chapter. Again, like a play-write (but more difficult because I have only words not a physical theatre) how I should "set the stage" for the impending scene: setting, atmosphere, foreboding, and then action. Finally I turn on the computer and type.
I don't worry about writer's block. I can sort a lot out while driving, especially if there is a traffic jam!
