Jack Hance Scott, thank you for your quetion, and for following my books. I am currently working on the second Levi Walsh adventure, and I'm excited about it. I believe I will be finished with a clean draft by August, but then the tiresome process of editing and review begins. I am still shooting for this fall to release that book, tentatively called "Road Warriors." As for Ice Breaker, that is a less happy topic. That book and its characters were very special for me, and the fact that it was not well received commercially is a recurring source of sadness for me. I still intend to finish the series, at least with a concluding book, but I can't give you an estimate on timing. Again, thank you for your question. Sincerely, Jack Hance
Jack Hance The girl opened the door slowly and reached into the darkness. She pulled her arm back suddenly to find that her hand was gone.
Jack Hance I've never really had this problem. I hit snags in stories, places where I've got a gap, or a connection that is hard to make. I usually walk away from the keyboard for a while, go for a walk or do some gardening, and usually the answer comes to me.
Jack Hance Being able to create a whole world, peopled with characters you love.
Jack Hance Write what you know. Don't worry about what other people think, it is your story. If you change for every opinion you encounter, the result will be a mishmash that no one will read.
Jack Hance I just finished the first draft of the second book in my At Sea Day series, called Port in a Storm, and I'm very excited about it. Unfortunately, the part that comes now is the hardest, editing and refining. Not nearly as fun as writing, but necessary.
Jack Hance To be honest, I don't really think about that. Once I start a story and have my characters, they tell the story and scream for me to write it down. Not literally, of course, but that's how it feels. I love writing, and have to ration it to myself or I'd never get anything else done.
Jack Hance At Sea Day was a departure for me, given that it does not involve an EMP attack. A story driven by a viral attack is far more complex, and it required a great deal of research. The idea of the hero starting out on a cruise ship appealed to me because it put the main characters in a small setting, struggling with the virus, while the drama played out in the rest of the world.
