At Sea Day was a departure for me, given that it does not involve an EMP attack. A story driven by a viral attack is far more complex, and it required a great deal of research. The idea of the hero starting out on a cruise ship appealed to me because it put the main characters in a small setting, struggling with the virus, while the drama played out in the rest of the world.
