Tim McWhorter If you're going to write, do it for the right reasons. A very small percentage of writers are able to do it for a living. An even smaller percentage 'make it big' so to speak, earning fame and glory from their writing. And on top of all that, it's hard work. Very hard. So if you're going to write, do it because you love it. Do it because you have to in order to feel fulfilled. Write because being a writer is who you are, not because of where and what you think it will get you.
Tim McWhorter The creative outlet. I don't write to change the world. My works will never be compared to the great literary minds we know and respect, and that's fine with me. That's not my goal. I just want to tell stories. If I can entertain someone for a weekend, then I'm happy. That's what I like most about being a writer.
Tim McWhorter Currently, I am working on two projects. The first is a novel titled, Blackened, which is a sequel to my first novel, Bone White. Tentative release will be mid to late spring. The second project I am working on is the editing of some short stories due to be released in a collection after the first of the year. The collection is titled Swallowing The Worm and Other Stories. Basically, both of my releases so far are in the horror genre, but that's not all I write. This collection of stories could be classified as more mainstream, and is intended to simply show another side of me. Thanks for the question and I appreciate the support!
Tim McWhorter I'm not sure if it would be considered a 'method' in dealing with writer's block, but what works for me is simply to have more than one project going at a time. I usually have 2-3 novels or stories going at once, all considerably different from each other. When I hit a roadblock on one, I switch mindsets and work on a different project for awhile. Usually, when I come back to the primary project after 'cleansing my pallet' so to speak, the roadblock is gone and things start to flow again, allowing me to continue. Not quite the scientific method or exercise some writers use, but it works for me.
