I cry a lot, thump my desk, and storm around the house! Only kidding. I would never thump my desk. During my initial authoring months I discovered advice that has worked wonders for me: if the words do not flow, then edit. Editing yesterday's work often spawns new ideas, and voila!

I am also a pilot; traveling comes with the job. With that, I have been exposed to many varieties of culture and society. It gives me a treasure trove of detail to draw from for recreating worlds and characters. The best part of writing for me, is it too provides me with travel opportunities. The places I visit are even more adventurous, and I only have to close my eyes to go there.

I read this time and time again, so this is old advice, but it is the most accurate to get published - write! Yes, just keep writing.
When I was at design college, we were taught to draft out the first idea we thought of, as terrible as that was. If we waited for the perfect design, we would still have a blank page hours later. Ideas lead to concepts that lead to viable finished products. You have the ideas, but you need to let them flow. So, turn on the tap; who knows what characters and plot you will create?

A possible sequel to The Jorvik Prophecy. Though it is a stand-alone story, it quite easily lends itself to a sequel. Having said that, my mind is brimming with totally new ideas, delving into science, time-travel and the quantum world.

Almost every day growing up, my Mom would say, 'I should write a book." She never did.
Later in life, I began quoting her same line. Ten years ago, I purchased my little black book - for note-taking, ideas, and plot creation. I made several attempts to develop the details for a plot, start-to-finish, but never managed to complete a draft. I gave up.
But then, when COVID hit, it finally gave me the focus and time I needed to sit down and complete it. So... inspiration to write stemmed from my mother, but the pandemic was the catalyst. I see it as the good and evil reasons behind my inspiration - the perfect combination for a story like The Jorvik Prophecy.

The history of York is rich, dating back many thousands of years which is why there are so many TV Series and movies produced about this wonderful place. Raised in a town not far from there, York drew me in at an early age and it became my frequent visiting ground. When developing ideas for a new book, York (Jorvik) seemed the perfect place to start, though I had no interest in writing a classical historic novel. Mine would take place in modern times but somehow link to the city's ancient wonders. What began as a time-traveling novel morphed into something completely different!
