The idea for Genesis: Call Sign: Wrecking Crew Slice of Life was sparked in part by Mark Wilcox as well as Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey. The kicker was when David McKoy started coming up with the background stories for the characters. That's why I call this novella - a prequel sequel.

I wrote poems and short stories in high school, mostly on my own. When I was suffering job burn out, my daughter suggested I write for a living. I also got inspired by Ed Beesley and his book Lucky Enough. I know Ed's wife Connie Kay through a message board.

I'm currently working on the third novel in the Call Sign: Wrecking Crew series - subtitled Scimitar Brotherhood. It picks up where Genesis: Call Sign: Wrecking Crew Slice of Life left off. If we do it right, it may answer some questions left from Call Sign: Wrecking Crew (Storm Warning) and Call Sign: Wrecking Crew (Wings of Eagles).

The best advice I can give is the best advice that I was given. Read books in your chosen genre. Get a feel for how other authors write. If you find something as a reader that you like add it to your arsenal. If you discover anything that turns you off as a reader, don't use it. Now that you've decided what you like and don't - write, write, and write. You don't have to have the same writing style as others - you can make it your own.

The best thing about being a writer is meeting all kinds of interesting and creative people, especially fellow writers.
