I always wanted to write my father's life story as I did for my mother but was at a lost. I realized I didn't know much about his childhood because he never talked about it. After 12 years of trying to write his story, I finally hired a writing coach who ask me a question that turned the project on it's ear, "how did your father's drinking affect you?" I didn't believe I'd be affected at all but I was in denial. Once I understood myself, I was able to understand him and the book began to unfold.
