Elizabeth (Liz) Hawkins is an American author and blogger. Her first book, From Pigtails and Pinafores: My Mother's Life Growing up on the Florida Gulf was published in 2005. Her second book, The World outside our Door was published in 2017 and pays homage to her father, a man born out of wedlock in a small North Carolina town in 1913 and grew up under a cloud of shame and rejection, leading him to alcoholism as an adult. Liz grew up a child of an alcoholic and although she loved her father dearly, his drinking became a source of resentment and shame to her.
