My books are all set in the fictional country of Wesbourne, an island country in the middle of the Atlantic. Because I'm obsessed with all things British, I thought it would be fun to incorporate some of their slang and turns of phrase. So while I don't technically write British English, I like to sprinkle fun little phrases throughout. As for it being difficult, I read a lot of British novels so that makes it easier to think that way when I'm writing. The hardest one is calling a sidewalk "pavement," haha!

I don’t really give myself a choice most days. But if I’m really struggling, I’ll usually read a good book or binge a TV show. I’ve found that immersing myself in a story other than my own helps the most for getting out of a writing funk. Oh, and I am a heavy plotter, so I always go into my scenes with a very clear idea of what’s going to happen.

I once read a quote by Peter De Vries that changed my life. “I write when I’m inspired, and I see to it that I’m inspired at nine o’clock every morning.” In 2022 I made the commitment to write six days a week, and other than the occasional short break, I’ve kept that commitment every day at 5:45am since then.

I’ve always been a firm believer that one can never watch Gossip Girl too many times. The drama, the glamorous lifestyle, the friend group, that private academy aesthetic, the revenge plots--writing a book that combined these elements felt like the most natural thing in the world.
