Putting all of the morals, values and lessons that you think matter into words. Enjoying the journey as you write. Learning more every day. All of these are perfect examples of what the "best" thing is about being a writer. Being a writer is the best, simple as that.

Read. Read, watch, play. But don't just live the lives of others, also live your own! There's nothing better than drawing from your own experience. If you can hit the nail on the head with atmosphere and emotion, everything else will be sure to follow.
Don't underestimate yourself. You can and will produce a lovely work of either fiction or non-fiction. People will love you and the art you have creatively produced. You are amazing.
Don't rush anything. I know you want to get it out there ASAP, and we would love to read it ASAP, but if it's just not flowing from pen to paper, then don't fret. Sometimes great things take longer to craft.

I don't really have an answer for that; I was brainstorming for a different novel (coincidentally in the same universe as "Be Happy, Idiot") when I very suddenly plotted out the entirety of the novel. It was the week before NaNoWriMo 2010 and decided then and there that I would be writing "Be Happy, Idiot" instead of "The Death of Someone", which is still in the works.

Music is the big answer here. I love music and it doesn't matter what genre it is. I could be listening to country, classic rock, classical... Whatever suits the piece I'm writing at the time. I investigate on 8tracks and youtube and sometimes even pandora. If music doesn't help get me in the right mindset then it's other creative endeavors: photography, art, tv shows, movies.

I have many websites I go to, including Writer's Block 911, that helps me to overcome it. It really depends upon the circumstance, but sometimes I power through by forcing myself to write, other times I write something that has nothing to do with any of the current projects I'm working on and thus get the creative juices flowing. Sometimes I just wait it out by doing other things I love doing (playing games, being social, etc).
