It's taken four days of thinking to truly be able to say, I can't think of any one of the fictional worlds I know that would be a place I'd like to visit...for any reason! The worlds I like to write (and even read) about are not for the faint of heart, and I'm getting beyond the adventurous stage and into wanting to keep my body parts where they are stage :-)

LOL...this is totally appropriate and I promise I did not plant this question but one of the biggest mysteries in my life is going to be the centerpiece of my new TimeBenders series. The first book will be Estate of Smoke and Mirrors! Coming by the end of this year.

Read widely in my favorite genres and watch a ton of movies...and read and listen to the news of all things. LOL..you can't make up stuff as good as some of the things that come across the wire!

Keep your butt in the seat and write! Publishing isn't a selection process...it's a survival process.

Roger, I originally read the book Roots when it came out in 1976. My perception of what I read at the age of 26 is probably not very applicable today, since I wasn't a writer then, and I am now. The story itself affected me deeply, just like it affected most of the country, as a compelling saga of a journey of life and man's inhumanity to man. The circumstances transcend the writing no matter how eloquently it was written, and add to the depth. I could probably easily feel today that it was the greatest story every written...besides the Bible :-)

Book #2 of the Stone Braide Chronicles.
Lightning flashes plague her eyes, an earthquake jeopardizes her sanity, and the Mountain demands her blood.
In finding her real father, life for Selah should have become ideal, but the horrors have just begun. In this futuristic world of a dystopian United States, Selah battles nature, vicious animals, and even worse remnants of society.
Haunted by her selfish desires, and the pain of loss, the ultimate betrayal of her own body becomes part of the change that may end her life. What has made her new can also make her dead.

The best thing about being a writer is the 3 B's...blood, body parts, and blowing things up! And anyone that annoys you...you can kill them off in the most insane fashion you can think about. It's a great stress reliever :-)

I've never actually had writer's block. I've had writers procrastination..."Oh look...a shiny thing over there needs my attention."
I've had writer's remorse...I shoulda sat my but in the seat and wrote," she said as the deadline loomed 24 hours away and she needed 30k words.
And I've had writer's tantrum, "I'm just not gonna do it! No...I'm not!"
But writer's block is just a matter of sitting your butt in the seat and writing...no matter if you have to chuck it all as drek when you go back and read it...'cause you're not a writer...unless your w-r-i-t-i-n-g :-)

There are numerous people who live in my head, and unfortunately they don't let me alone until I tell the stories they've thought up. "What if" is probably the most prominent way I get plots...and even subplots. I just look at the headlines today and say, "what if?"
