Nigel G. Mitchell I don't get inspired. I force myself to write, because if I waited to feel inspired, I'd never write anything.
Nigel G. Mitchell I'm not big into romances, but I think Buttercup and Wesley in "The Princess Bride" was a pretty epic couple. They just go through so much to be together, overcoming years apart and even death. They simply want to be together and would rather die than live without each other. It feels timeless.

I was watching "The Matrix" trilogy the other day, and thinking how Neo and Trinity also made a great couple. There's just something so straightforward about their love, like they don't bother to explain why they're attracted to each other and they don't fight or hate each other in the beginning like most fictional romantic couples. They're just fated to be in love, and they risk everything, just to be together, like Romeo and Juliet. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss carried a lot of it through their acting and chemistry, and they did a great job.

Nigel G. Mitchell I have kept my sense of humor. I firmly believe there's nothing that can't be made fun of, and nowhere humor can't be found. Besides, it just makes my story of overthrowing an evil empire that much more relevant!
Nigel G. Mitchell There's the old cliches: write as much as you can, read as much as you can. But something they don't tell you is that a lot of what you write is going to be terrible. It just is. The first thing you write will probably not be very good. The hundredth thing you write might not be good, either. But that's okay. If you really want to be a writer and work hard, you'll produce something good. And you can build from there.
Nigel G. Mitchell The best thing is being able to take the worlds I imagine and make them into something real. It's a great feeling to see a short story or a novel and think, "I made that, all by myself."
Nigel G. Mitchell Honestly, this has been a tough one for me. I had writer's block for over a year one time. The only way I got out of it was to start writing flash fiction, short stories at exactly 100 words. That got me out of it. I think writer's block is really about fear. The fear of writing badly. The fear of failure. Writing flash fiction gave me confidence again to fail. It let me make mistakes. The only way out of writer's block is to write. That way your love of writing can overcome your fear.
Nigel G. Mitchell Honestly, I wanted to write a goofy, wacky superhero parody. I came up with the idea of the absolute opposite of the average superhero, someone who's fat and lazy and unattractive. That's how I came up with Couch Potato.
