They just go through so much to be together, overcoming years apart and even death. They simply want to be together and would rather die than live without each other. It feels timeless.

I was watching "The Matrix" trilogy the other day, and thinking how Neo and Trinity also made a great couple. There's just something so straightforward about their love, like they don't bother to explain why they're attracted to each other and they don't fight or hate each other in the beginning like most fictional romantic couples. They're just fated to be in love, and they risk everything, just to be together, like Romeo and Juliet. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss carried a lot of it through their acting and chemistry, and they did a great job.(less)

Besides, it just makes my story of overthrowing an evil empire that much more relevant!(less)

Story Structure as a Roller Coaster [Art]

We all know that reading can be an adventure with all sorts of twists and turns, which is why this image is so great. What is exposition? Falling action? An unreliable narrator? What if you could illustrate story structure as an amusement park roller coaster? That's where this hilarious and really insightful cartoon by Grant Snider comes in. A glance shows how a great plot twist can be an exci Read more of this blog post »

Douglas Adams
“The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Douglas Adams
“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”
Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

Douglas Adams
“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Frank Herbert
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Frank Herbert, Dune

Brian W. Aldiss
“When childhood dies, its corpses are called adults.”
Brian Aldiss
