Heidi Angell That is tough. There are so many good answers. I can't pick just one. Probably one of my favorite science fiction books where there ISN'T a war taking place and I would go to explore.
Heidi Angell Yes, I am. And you will definitely love book three (due out in 2018.) as Grant ends up saving Clear's rear end this time as he finds himself chasing down Clear, as she follows up on haunting dreams of a kidnapped boy out into the desert.
Heidi Angell As darkness settled across the land, the monsters began to prowl. Humanity had more to fear from their own kind than from the supernatural beasts that howled.
Heidi Angell Oh, goodness! So many books. I am about to start Conquest a LitRPG story by Aleric Elos, Then Tombs by James Dorr, the second book in the Winter Smith series by J.S. Strange, and then I have 15 paperbacks and 31 e-books to choose from. My goal is 52 books this year, and I am a bit behind, but anticipate doing a lot of catching up during the summer!
Heidi Angell Aw, that's a secret! With 8 books out, that's a lot of characters. I will tell you that in every book I write there is one character who is based on a part of me and some of my avid fans love trying to figure out which character is me (Hint, most of the time it isn't the main character, and it isn't always a woman.) Who do you think is based on me?
Heidi Angell Well, I only have two children's books and neither deal with heavy current events/ themes. Royal Prince Vince is a moral tale about how wealth doesn't buy happiness, but self-esteem built around learning skills and applying them can lead to fulfillment. I suppose if someone wanted to, they could turn that into a heavy theme, but it wasn't intended that way. It was just a fun story. Creative Exercises to Inspire is simply a series of creative tasks that I used with kids age 5-16 to help inspire their creativity during a summer program I volunteered for. But I think that authors who are concerned about such things should take some psychology courses geared around the developmental stages for the age group they are aiming to teach.

I know for me, even though my own children are advanced readers vocabularily, I've always been very careful about choosing books that were content appropriate. When my 5th grader went behind my back and checked out Hunger Games from the school library, and came back with the concept that it would be cool to be a Tribute, I felt completely justified in my decision.

Just because a person can read the words, doesn't mean they have the wherewithal to cope with the concepts and understanding how brain development works is vital to creating appropriate stories that don't deal with too difficult themes.
Heidi Angell It depends on the story, which is why I have laptop and will travel! Where ever I'm writing, I tend to nest because I write for hours at a time. I will have a drink, a snack, a notepad, my laptop, and a blanket/ hoodie.
Heidi Angell I loved camping in the Bear Paws in Montana as a kid and hope to take my kids one day. But honestly, as long as I can swim within a reasonable hiking distance, I've never had a bad camping trip. Whether at the beach or in the mountains, just being with nature is really refreshing.
Heidi Angell Are there any bad weapons? Lol, Just kidding! I am (maybe, possibly) obsessed with knives and swords. (You can see some of my collection as I use them to open packages on Youtube ;) ) and The Hunters are a big fan of sharp pointy objects. Grant from The Clear Angel Chronicles carries a gun because he's a police officer. I get creative with weapons in The Survivalist Bible, which should be out the end of summer. (Fingers crossed!)
Really, so long as the weapon does it's job, I kind of love them all!
Heidi Angell Xiufeng, I am honored. Thank you. I will email you. For future reference, you might be better off sending a message through the Follow Author Feature, or going to an author's website, that way you don't have to put your personal information out there.
Heidi Angell So many mysteries! We don't know who my Grandfather is on my paternal side. There is a rumor that my father's middle initial is for the last name of the man, but my Grandmother took the information to her grave.
Heidi Angell Such a tough question! There are so many awesome couples. My longest-standing favorite would have to be Riatha and Baeran from The Eye of The Hunter.
Heidi Angell I really cannot pick just one. There are so many! I read a lot of books, and often re-read books. I get something out of every one. My favorite authors are the prolific authors because they are always giving me more.
Heidi Angell Hell School is based on my personal experience being stalked throughout high school. It was a life changing experience and with stalking incidents on the rise, I felt it was time to tell my story. We do not have to allow ourselves to be victims to our stalkers. We can protect ourselves.
Heidi Angell I see The Clear Angel Chronicles as more New Adult, although most of the material is ok for older YA readers and will continue to keep that PG-13 rating as the series goes along. I did not consider The Hunters appropriate for YA audiences, though apparently it has found a healthy niche with YA male readers 16 and up that I would not have anticipated. Hell School is really written for the YA audience, as it is about my experience being stalked in High school. It has lessons that are good for any woman, but lessons that many teenage girls are not being taught.
Heidi Angell Hell School: Fresh Meat is a clean YA book, with some uncomfortable situations (EG: Stalking) but there is no language, sex, or violence. As the series goes along it will get darker, but will still be conservative YA appropriate and any language or violence will be for the purpose of realism in the story.
Heidi Angell Oh, gosh... I have enjoyed so many.... I would have to say that my favorite was a review on a book blogger's site during The Hunter's release tour, where he noted that "the author turns gender roles on their heads". I appreciated it because at first it confused me. The reviewer made me take a look at my work in a new way and learn something about how my world view is different than other's world views. This is why I write. To share my world view, and perhaps shape other's world views.
Heidi Angell I rarely have writer's block. I do, however, frequently get "writer's derailment" meaning that I will be in the middle of writing one book when another one keeps trying to push the main book to the sidelines. In that case, I will jot down the outline of the ideas for the other book, but then force myself to go back to the original piece and tell the other characters "Shush, you will get your chance!"
