I rarely have writer's block. I do, however, frequently get "writer's derailment" meaning that I will be in the middle of writing one book when another one keeps trying to push the main book to the sidelines. In that case, I will jot down the outline of the ideas for the other book, but then force myself to go back to the original piece and tell the other characters "Shush, you will get your chance!"
