I once heard from a great writer that you can't draw ideas from an empty well. So, when I want to be inspired, I fill my creative well full of all kinds of things: music, books, movies, plays, nature, fashion, art, etc. When I've done that, creating comes much easier and organically.

If you're really serious about it, then never, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER give up. You're the only person that can keep you from accomplishing your dreams.

Creating. Making my own hours. Escaping into a world of my own making. Meeting new characters. The satisfaction of knowing you've created something that has never existed before.

I pretend like it doesn't exist. When that doesn't work, I look at the clock. If it's between 3-5 p.m. I know there's no point in trying to be creative, because over the last ten years of writing, I've learned that that is when my creative brain goes to sleep. So, rather than "kicking against the pricks" to use a biblical term, I go do something that doesn't require my creative brain until it decides to wake up again. :-) Knowing when my creative brain sleeps is one of the best things that's happened to my writing.
