Hi Delphine. Sorry, I haven't logged into Goodreads in quite some time, but wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

My latest novel is The Long Season, available July 1. Ghosts, goblins, bayou moonshiners and rocket ships! Oh my!

The Long Season is, in a sense, based on my strange childhood. I grew up in the bayous where candle flicker spirits and vodou and the parlangua were real fears, moonshiners were real folk, and the natural world was a place of mystery and wonder where any magic could happen. Of course, the book is fiction, but there is a real, perhaps forgotten, world at its core.

Getting out in nature is what inspires me most. I find if I go hike, spend time among the trees and wildlife, ideas flow into my mind. Sometimes the ideas come so fast that, for me, writer's block is struggling to decide which idea to focus and turn into a book next.

Keep writing, keep submitting. Writing, like music or painting and other arts, takes practice. Get commentary; get criticism. Find your strength and niche, and learn to flow with your creativity.

Bringing the world in my mind to life. Of course, that brings the tragedy to life, too. It breaks my heart when tragedy befalls one my sympathetic characters.

I find good books aren't written, they're rewritten. Writer's block proves that point--just write through. Writing will stimulate the creative process. One can always go back and edit later.
