To co-op a line from Jaws 2: "This time, it's personal!" Growing up off Mulholland afforded me a singular look at how LA's hills shape not just the city, but America as a whole. Find your passion, then write every day. Consider starting a blog and finding an audience as you develop your voice. Then, gradually, as you build an audience, step up your goals to something bigger. Also, are there universal truths to what you're writing about? Even if your interests are very niche and obscure, find the human connection so that even those who aren't interested in your passions will still want to read you because of some interesting insight you bring to the table about human nature and about ourselves.
