I don't really have writer's block. I mainly suffer from writer's apathy. Once I start to write, it is very difficult for me to stop. But, with video games, binge watching, mobile games, shows, and a plethora of other things to distract me, it's hard to sit down at times and write. That is my ultimate challenge.

The best thing about being a writer is getting to create worlds. There is a unique thing that comes from crafting every aspect of an existence. I also enjoy the psychological and sociological parts of writing. To place yourself in so many mindsets and really understand what it might be for someone to go through an experience, to delve into how that would change you or how you might react, is brain candy.

I know it is simple and plain to say, but my advice for aspiring writers is to write. It doesn't matter what you are writing, just write. The level of growth that you can make as you put pen to paper or finger to keyboard is tremendous. I remember finishing my first novel and thinking that I was very satisfied with what I had written. Now coming back to it years later, I realize how much I could grow as a writer. Each project, especially the ones that weren't in the vein of my normal writing, has forced me to grow. So, just write.

Currently I'm working on a number of projects. We have a drop of our first novel, 'Seeker's Price' coming out in a month. Building up an interest for that has been very time consuming. I'm also creating an audiobook available for free as a podcast. We are writing a Young Adult Fantasy novel that should be completed this summer, and available around Christmas. Once that is done, we have Volume Two of the Pieces of Redemption series to write, a second Novella in the Given Time series, which will be releasing in July, and Volume Two of The Malef Chronicles.

Writing has always been a natural part of who I am. Stories grow and fester in my mind—the by-product of an overactive imagination I hope. It's always been more of a question of finding time to pull myself away from life and focus on getting those stories written that has been the problem.

The idea for my recent book sprouted from a desire to write a buddy novel. Initially, I had an idea for a story about an immortal and his friend going on supernatural adventures. Needing help on developing an interesting backstory, I began talking with my fellow teacher and friend Bill Walberg. From those discussion sprouted a whole new universe and story that evolved organically.
