Aleta Edwards I am currently working on a book relating to things I have learned about life or that have touched me deeply. It's impossible to be a psychologist and not think about life and the human state, and I am sharing some of those thoughts in the next book.
Aleta Edwards In my case, I am a psychologist first and a writer second. The reason I wrote this book is that I wanted to reach more people than I could in private therapy who have issues of shame, perfectionism, control, etc. So many people have these issues and they are often the basis for anxiety, depression and much human suffering in general. So for me the best thing about having written a book is the people who have written to me with email letting me know it has helped them, and that people who have not had their issues addressed are finding relief in a new way. Many people in reviews have also shared, and said they have been helped a great deal. I wrote this to help people, and seeing that this is happening, for me, is the best thing of having written a book.
Aleta Edwards I kept getting new clients with issues of shame and perfectionism, and most of them had been treated for depression or anxiety without their ongoing personality issues that caused problems being addressed. They still sought treatment because they still suffered. I wrote the book because I felt frustrated and unhappy about people trying to get help and getting lost in a label, and I wanted to reach out to as many people as I could. I also don't believe in treating a label but a whole person.
