"Where are my notebooks? And why are you holding matches?"
I'm shuddering.

I have always wanted to write stories about the various workplaces I've experienced. When I worked at a candy shop in Southern Maine, I always used to imagine hiding in the basement storeroom from a dangerous criminal, because the air smells so good down there, but the lights sometimes flicker, and you can always hear footsteps overhead.
The library where I work now, in Viriginia, also has lots of nooks and crannies that would be fun for a suspense story. That would be good practice for my writing chops!

Right now (it's summer) I'm reading Babel for fiction, The Problem of Randomness for educational nonfiction, and My Sisters the Saints for spiritual nonfiction.

This is difficult, since fantasy is very much my reading/writing jam, but I'd probably be basic and go with Middle-Earth. I'd go and visit Faramir and Eowyn, since they are one of my most diehard ships, and probably hang out in the Minas Tirith libraries.

I'll let you know when I have a good answer for that! If it's just a little one, I'll pick a prompt or two, write something dreadful, then use those creative juices to actually chip away at my WIPs.
If it's a BAD one, I admit defeat and do some of those alternative creative tasks: Pinning, playlist-making, sketching, or even transcribing some scenes in my notebook onto a Doc, so I have them forever.

Being able to explore big questions about life and about humans in general, through different characters and scenarios.
I love philosophy and anthropology, so figuring out how to make my characters tick in loveable and realistic ways is very rewarding for me.
Writing sassy dialogue is like a cherry on top.

Write anything you want, even if it seems goofy and silly, or even if it seems like someone else has done it before! What gets written down in your private notebooks or your private Google Drive is your own business, and you are not required to cater your love of creation to anyone else's interests.

I am currently working on a saga, about three to four books long, about a fierce and loving family, descended from a long line of warriors, living in secret as aristocrats on a small island nation.

I have been writing for as long as I can remember! My siblings and I used to write little stories during the day and then read them to our dad when he came home from work; he was also a writer, so we wanted to be like him! So I have always loved writing. To stay motivated, I try to do different creative things with my stories, like Pinterest boards, Spotify playlists, OC sketches, etc. All of these things keep the pump primed! And of course, when God hits me with that spontaneous inspiration (one of the best parts of being a writer!), I try to write down as much of it as possible, as soon as I can.

Thank you for asking! I actually dedicated this book to my 8 siblings, because they are a constant source of inspiration to me. I wrote Quick because as a young teen, I felt I was missing out on stories about big, chaotic bands of siblings, like my own family. The setting came from a desire to experiment with something new, since most of my favorite stories took place in forests or medieval-type cities. So, a story about a bunch of "siblings" in a desert oasis came to life!
