Erin Knightley Hi Shale!

I'm delighted to hear that you've enjoyed reading my regencies :-) Thanks so much for reaching out! At the moment, I'm taking a break from writing historical romance in order to write some women's fiction. It's very exciting for me to change things up, and I'm looking forward to putting something totally different out there soon, but regencies have always been my first love, so I'm sure I'll return to the world before too long :-) Thanks for the question, and as always - happy reading!
Erin Knightley My apologies for the delay in answering - this got lost in the shuffle during the holidays! One thing to start with is that you aren't alone. Just about every writer I know gets discouraged, sometimes frequently, and we all understand how debilitating that can be. But here's the thing: if we concentrate on the 'competition', and not on how we can be the best writer we can be, then failure will always feel as though it's inevitable. It's important to look inwardly, not outwardly, when writing. Yes, the market has ups and downs and some part or another will always resemble a dumpster fire, lol. But guess what? There's always room for great writers. I honestly don't look at my fellow novelists as my competition. It's up to me to put out the best product I can, and if it's good enough, it will find readers.
So, sit that butt in a chair, put those fingers on your keyboard, block out the world, and START WRITING! Also, try joining local or online writer groups so you can have support from others in the same boat. Best of luck to you!
Erin Knightley I think my all time favorite is a real oldie: Meredith and Matthew from Judith McNaught's PARADISE. I also adore Simon and Daphne from Julia Quinn's THE DUKE AND I, as well as good old Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth from PRIDE AND PREJUDICE :)
Erin Knightley Hi Cintia!
I certainly hope you will enjoy reading my books :) There are definitely other authors around who stay on the sweeter side, though I will say that its more common in inspirational or Christian romances (Jennifer Delamere and Lily George are two great inspirational historical writers). I did a boxed set with 8 other sweet historical authors that is no longer for sale, but if you'd like to see the names of the other authors in the set, you can check it out here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2.... Amy DeTrempe is another option, or you can do a search for 'sweet historical romance' on amazon (http://amzn.to/1UHkeue).
Thanks so much for your question - I hope this helped!
Erin Knightley Hi Marlene!
The Romance novels in the BookShots Flames imprint are 'presented' by James Patterson, as opposed to co-authored (those books say "James Patterson with So-and-so") :) For Learning to Ride, we worked together to create a fast-moving 'story at the speed of life' that you should be able to 'devour in hours', as the Bookshots tagline goes. Hope that answers your question!
Erin Knightley Hi Becky! Thanks so much for the kind words - I'm so glad you are enjoying my books! My most recent release was THE VISCOUNT RISKS IT ALL, which came out in January and is the last of the Prelude to a Kiss Series. I took a break to write something a little different, a contemporary cowboy romance for James Patterson's brand new BookShots Flames imprint, and that releases on July 5. After that, I will have a new historical romance novella out in Sept :) If you have any other questions, feel free to either ask here, or email me directly at erin@erinknightley.com. Cheers!
Erin Knightley Hi Danita!
I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying my books! Yes, it was an intentional decision to focus solely on the love story, and leave the intimacy for the wedding night. It's simply a personal preference, especially for the time period. Thanks for the question, and as always, happy reading! :)
Erin Knightley Hi Elaine!
First off, let me just say thank you for being such a lovely fan! As for the preorder, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. My US publisher, Penguin, has sold the rights to the story to my UK publisher, Hachette, somewhat at the last minute. Therefore, Penguin withdrew the US version from the UK market, and Hachette will be placing it up for pre-order soon. I'll make a note to let you know when that link is up!
Thanks for the question, and if you have any more, just let me know!
Cheers,
Erin
