Rick Barnes Currently, I'm working on the sequel to The Unicorn Horn, which will be called The Dragon's Horde. The original book, The Unicorn Horn, came from ideas my kids threw out. I took every idea, both good and bad, that they came up with and combined it all together into a story. After reworking it quite a bit, I ended up with the fantasy world Forshee.
In The Dragon's Horde, I actually tease my readers with my inspiration for the idea... the book The Hobbit. After Ernie "borrows" a copy of the Hobbit, he gets the same idea the Dwarves had, to search for the Dragon's gold. From that idea, the 2nd book just sort of wrote itself.
Rick Barnes I just write the first things that come into mind even if it's bad. Later on when I edit I could cut the bad bits out and replace them with better scenes. Sometimes I've actually liked what I wrote so much it changes the scene completely.
Rick Barnes The old man sat crying over his wife's burial. He wasn't sure if it was because he was sad to see her go or because he regretted the fact she wasn't dead when he buried her.
Rick Barnes Book 2 of the Outcast Club book series. Leo, Samuel, Kate, Daniel and Ernie are all back along with a couple new friends in a new adventure.
Rick Barnes Do it! Just write away. I don't know a single writer who thinks their stories are perfect so don't worry about it. If you enjoy it others will enjoy it too.
