Hi William!
I'm not sure I do let them my characters go. It's more like they let me go, kind of like condescending teenagers patting you on the head and telling you you've done a great job before stranding you in the home you've been sharing for what seems like forever. That said, there is a point at which I recognize that the story I've written for them has run its course, and that to stay with it any longer is to do a disservice to us both.
As a side note, if anything, I miss my minor characters the most, as I get to spend the least amount of time with them. ;)
Yours,
Elizabeth

There's never one thing, no button or switch or ritual I have that gets me inspired. I just try to stay as receptive as possible, and keep that relationship to my writing as healthy and rewarding as I can.

Develop a relationship to your practice. More specifically, treat your practice as you might a marriage or a long term friendship. It's not going to be all roses every day, but if you show up and be real for it, and respect your writing for where it's at, you will find that your relationship to the practice grows in both quality and fulfillment.

Getting to do what I most love to do!

Like any other writing tool, I try to use it! Writer's block usually shows up when I'm trying to force my writing to do or be something it's not ready to do or be. So instead of just banging my head against the wall, I try to get a better sense of what the wall is doing there, and that usually helps me figure out how to get past it.
