Arielle Miller Hello! No, I have not read it. Should I? What about the book drew you in specifically? :)
Arielle Miller Hi Angela! My favorite book of all time is Red Azalea by Anchee Min! It is the most beautifully crafted and touching story I have ever come across... highly recommend it!

I'm not sure I could name just ONE favorite author though... I love Haruki Murakami, Audrey Niffenegger, Leonard Cohen, Kurt Vonnegut, Diana Gabaldon...

There are just so many wonderful authors and books out there, don't you think?? :)
Arielle Miller Hello Adegbola! Well that's a long answer, but I'll try to fit it in here tidily! :)

I have always been an educator (as a childminder, elementary school teacher and college instructor) and writer. However, historically, I have written and edited textbooks and abridged versions of the classics, online educational content and teacher's manuals - that sort of thing.

I've also written a series of children's books - just for my kids, not for publication, and I've trained and worked as a birth and postpartum doula for a brief, but very meaningful time.

Then, after some devastating incidents in my life - including the loss of my father, covid, divorce and spinal surgery - and finding my way through them, stronger and happier than ever, I was inspired to share my personal story via memoir.

Just as being a teacher, working with children and supporting families through their birthing journeys helped me to support, educated and connect with interesting humans... publishing my memoir was a beautiful and meaningful way for me to connect with all kinds likeminded - or very much not-likeminded - people around the world.

It was also a way for me to bring awareness to the struggle, pain and confusion of being a single parent, learning to heal while also needing to move forward, possibly hindered by a case of "fractured identity," as they attempt to reconcile their true inner desires with the demands of society, their friends and family, and their deep-seated expectations of themselves.

I hope that answers your question as to how this project came about and how my career has zigzagged over the years... though always, it seems now in hindsight, towards a very clear goal.

Arielle Miller Certainly not any of the men in my book! lol

Probably Jamie Fraser from Outlander! :)

Arielle Miller Indeed, I am! I have around eight chapters drafted out, several others roughly sketched, and an outline for the entire book, which will include 28-30 chapters total. Stay tuned! :)
Arielle Miller Hello! So great to connect with you - and so many other readers and authors - here!!

My favorite thing about being an author is opening up difficult conversations and providing a safe, non-judgmental space for others to learn about, think about and hopefully discuss those possibly taboo or otherwise difficult topics with friends, family - or me!

Of course, I also just love the written word, and it's thrilling to publicly contribute my experiences, stories and opinions to the world! :)
Arielle Miller Haha - maybe read the blog? It’s probably not what you think… I just released a post-divorce dating memoir and the blog talks about my biggest fears publishing something of such a personal nature 🤗

I was an English major at Berkeley and got a degree in Education at TAU.

Looking to connect with writers and readers here… Hope you feel interested in the same!
Arielle Miller Don't have a summer reading list set yet... lol... but I definitely have a bunch of books on my 'Want to read' list in general - check it out!
Arielle Miller How I decided to leave my friends, family and the entertainment industry behind at 23 years old and move abroad on my own...
