I just finished a new book called Dating Tips From A Wolf. It's about how God used an unusual situation to help me get better at dating.

Many people aspire to write. I think that's wonderful, because everyone has unique stories inside them that we all need to hear or read. However, there is a difference between dreaming and doing. Dreamers can be anywhere and imagine the possibilities. Doers need their fingers moving. It sounds cliche, but if you want to write, then start writing. Even simple stuff builds momentum and helps you move closer to making your dream a reality. Before you know it, you move from being a dreamer to being a doer. Then, one day someone you know will mention you to another friend as their friend the writer.

At first, this wasn't a huge problem, because I had a ton of ideas. But then, it felt like I mentally hit a wall, just like runners do during their exercises. I wish I could say that I have completely conquered it, but it's still a struggle on some days. I'm learning that it's okay to let go of my plan sometimes for the purpose of getting my mind moving. Now, I'm using some writing prompts, especially goofy ones, like my morning stretches. They get me motivated and creative and then I'm off and writing.

I love to edit. I really do.
Maybe it's because I'm so good at sticking my foot in my mouth in regular day-to-day conversations, but as a writer I'm learning the wonderful beauty of editing. If at first you write poorly, backspace and try again. Isn't that just wonderful?
I even love bringing in skilled editors who catch the things my eyes cannot see. They make me so much better than I am on my own. Even as I've been typing my response to this question, I've backspaced and redone so that I can hopefully communicate better.
Writers get to rewrite. That's fantastic!
