But then, it felt like I mentally hit a wall, just like runners do during their exercises. I wish I could say that I have completely conquered it, but it's still a struggle on some days. I'm learning that it's okay to let go of my plan sometimes for the purpose of getting my mind moving. Now, I'm using some writing prompts, especially goofy ones, like my morning stretches. They get me motivated and creative and then I'm off and writing.

I love to edit. I really do.

Maybe it's because I'm so good at sticking my foot in my mouth in regular day-to-day conversations, but as a writer I'm learning the wonderful beauty of editing. If at first you write poorly, backspace and try again. Isn't that just wonderful?

I even love bringing in skilled editors who catch the things my eyes cannot see. They make me so much better than I am on my own. Even as I've been typing my response to this question, I've backspaced and redone so that I can hopefully communicate better.

Writers get to rewrite. That's fantastic!(less)
