I'm on the east coast, in beautiful St. John's, Newfoundland! A very small and laid back city right off the Atlantic Ocean!

Don't get bogged down in advice! There is no one way to be a writer, and I think that's so important :) Some people blaze through their first draft and then edit after, some work on their first draft for years, and others write fast and don't do much editing at all. I've found that the more I edit, the more I start changing things that don't make the book better, just different.
But I think the most important thing is to set aside time to just do it. You don't need a fancy laptop, or a coffee shop, or a perfect day where your muse is singing. You just need to believe in yourself, believe that you're capable of doing it, and then do it even when you don't believe in yourself ;)

This comment thread came across my homepage at such an insanely perfect time(especially weird when I see the time stamps haha). I'm an aspiring writer myself and am currently 4500-ish words away from finishing my first first-draft(ENGLISH!) of a novel. I've published short stories and comics before, but could never tackle a novel. Why? Because each time I started one, I reached a point where I thought "this sucks!" and decided the next one would be better. And it was, every single time... until it wasn't. Then it was time to start over.
This time I decided I'm not allowed to start over. I have to finish this draft before I can move one, no matter how bad it may suck. And here's the thing... It sucks! Parts of it are so bad I just know they need fixing. But I'm gonna finish, I'm gonna tackle another first draft, then come back and see how much this one really does suck and find out how I am as a fixer.
It's hard. Most would agree with that. But man, I find it impossible to quit.
Sorry for yapping, the words were just needed right now so I had to pop in. ...more

Hi Cheryl,
You're right - Book 2 occurs before Book 1, filling in what happened leading up to the events in Book 1 and hopefully making Book 3 more dynamic! They can be read in either order, but I think it's better with The Narrow Path read first.
