It started with a spark about elemental magic, and took a weird turn with Dancing with the Stars, and now I'm hip deep in Druidry. It's been a wild ride but I'm utterly in love with the characters!

Um....everywhere? hahahaha My first two non-fiction books (God Had Other Plans and Hail Mary for Peanut) were inspired by my life. Struggles and challenges that I was moved to reach beyond myself and try to help others.
My short-read collection of Essays (Just Stop: 10 Things Everyone Should Stop Saying) was legit a soapbox moment. I had been ruminating on my little kennel of pet peeves and I finally decided that I could produce something productive that might help everyone aim a little higher in communication and human connection.
But my fiction, ooooh so much inspiration. My Fantasy WIP was inspired solely by the concept of elementals and druidry. I'm loving how it's coming together. But I have a SERIES of Romance novels I'm toying with inspired solely by Adele and the Beatles music!
INSPIRATION IS IN THE VERY AIR AROUND US ALL THE TIME!

The utter freedom to craft EXACTLY what I wished I could read.
In my Non-Fiction pieces I am able to grace the pages with my words and see the shape of my advice or insights really take hold.
In my Fiction, it's the joy of watching of my stories unfold before me. Much like the joy of READING new story and seeing what happens next, I get to WRITE what happens next. IT'S SUCH A RUSH!

Ha. What am I NOT working on! I always have several projects going at any one time. I've launched a revised copy of a former book so I'm headlong into the marketing planning for that. I have an active blog I doodle with at any given time. But my biggest WIP joy right now is my fiction novel. It's a total genre switch for me but I'm completely enamored with the characters and the way the story is unfolding!

JUST. KEEP. WRITING.
Sounds simplistic, but it's true. Don't get bogged down on working on ONE piece either. Write in a diary or journal, post a blog, or sit and bang out a few pages on a novel. But just keep going. if you really can't stop, then you REALLY have great potential to create something amazing!

In truth, I don't believe writer's block truly exists. I do believe PROJECT BURN-OUT can occur. Sometimes you just need to step away, either for a drink of water or a walk, or perhaps even step "away" and work on a different project. For me, I'm writing, DAILY. Either prayer-journaling, or blogging, or writing a guest column or Op Ed piece. So if I ever hit a wall with a book, I just hit pause, shift gears for a day or so, and get back at it with fresh eyes.
