Anything by Haruki Murakami (my favourite author). I first read Kafka on the Shore years ago, and have enjoyed everything I have read of his, from essays and short stories to his epic novels. I also loved Drive My Car. We need more Murakami movies!
Anyway, I seem to have spiralled into a rant about my love of Murakami. What was the question?

As an experience, I think I would like an immersive experience like living in the world of The Witcher or A Song of Ice and Fire. I also think it would be amazing to live in Haruki Murakami's head, although sometimes that might be a pretty dark world to live in.
I guess that's the problem: If it's a great story, it probably isn't somewhere you would want to live.

I find the planning stage incredibly inspiring. After you have published more than one book, having physical copies in your writing space is helpful too. It's nice to see that you can and will finish the next book (just as you did the others).
Books, movies, video games, and music all inspire me, too. I can't watch anything without thinking about my own cool little version of that story. For me, inspiration isn't the problem, it's time.

The best thing about being a writer is when you don't like the direction the story is going, you can change it.

I tend to think that writer's block is imposter syndrome at work, and the best way to combat that is to keep writing. Keep your mind so busy with thoughts of writing (and improving) stories, you don't have time for self-doubt.

Write as much as you can (obviously), but study everything. Often you can learn just as much from terrible books as you can the greats.

I have currently finished my fifth novel in the Hollywoodland Mystery series, and I am about to start work on the sixth. I have also started mapping out a story that will be much darker, with a supernatural horror element. That's all I can share about that at the moment, but I am excited about it.

I am a massive lover of movies, and while there are some recent movies that I love, you can't go past a good black and white movie. At the end of 2021, I was watching a lot of movies from the 40s and 50s across different genres, and I decided I wanted to write a crime noir series. I then took fairy tales and used them as the basis for each story. While the first was the most obvious (Cinderella: Dead at 25!), the stories are used as a launching pad rather than a blueprint for the story.
