Stephanie Baudet I enjoy the process of writing - plotting the story, creating the characters and leading them into situations.
I love the research -
And, after all the work, proudly holding the finished book in my hand!

Stephanie Baudet I don't wait for inspiration. I enjoy writing and couldn't imagine not doing it. I'm lucky enough at present to be commissioned for my work - and having deadlines is incentive enough!

As I've said elsewhere, story starters are a great stimulus for getting the brain and imagination working.

Stephanie Baudet My most recent books were in a series for children called 'The Dinosaur Detectives'. There are 10 books in the series (6 out currently). I set each book in a different but interesting part of the world, but each of these sites was authentic. As far as possible, my facts are real and the fossils found in those areas were actually found there.
Of course, there are also threads that run through all the stories and subplots that develop with each book. The problem with series books is that they are variations on a theme, but each one must stand alone too.
Stephanie Baudet What I'm working on at present is confidential, but before that I wrote a series of children's books called, 'The Dinosaur Detectives' published by Sweet Cherry.

The 6 book set is out, with 4 more books to follow.

Stephanie Baudet It's a tough business, but then nothing worthwhile comes easily.

Be persistent. Don't give up - and most of all, read!

Stephanie Baudet If I'm looking for a new idea I have to focus in on something. I love story starters and what ifs. They can really set me going. You will find plenty on the internet.

The best place to sort out a plot, when you're stuck, is in the bath. It has never failed yet. It might be to do with the fact that you're captive, or that the hot water increases blood flow to the brain. Try it!
