Most of the inspiration for writing comes oddly not from writing, but while walking, driving or doing other activities. There is an interplay between writing and the thoughts it inspires during those other times, as there is an interplay between the writing and the research. The writing leads to questions, which the research answers, which leads to the writing and more research etc.

I seldom have writers block, probably because in the past when I wrote business communications, there was no time to be blocked - I had to plow ahead no matter what to meet the deadline. It was part of the job. So, I got in the habit of just sitting down and getting to the task at hand.. What I produced was not always the greatest, but at least it was a starting point to improve upon.
