Amy Turing I’ve always been fascinated by invisible systems of control — not the dystopian jackboots we expect, but the quiet algorithms that shape our attention, our emotions, even our identities. The idea that “freedom” could be engineered through personalization scared me more than any sci-fi monster. This book started as a thought experiment: What if belief itself was programmable? The deeper I went, the more plausible it became.
Amy Turing Yes — but indirectly. Everything in the book is fiction, yet inspired by real-world technologies: sentiment analysis tools, predictive policing, social credit experiments, the gamification of civic behavior. I kept asking myself: if these tools exist, what happens when they converge? The events are made up. The mechanisms are real.
