Sapphire Sorcerer's world was instigated by, first, my deep desire for my own fantasy world with my own rules, and second, my wish to convey deep messages about identity and self discovery. A fantasy, nonexistent world it is, but I wanted it to feel so realistic and familiar to readers.
Character development was basically a go-with-the-flow process. There were some characters that I had already in mind and how their personalities were shaped but mainly I would put myself in the character's shoes, pause, and ask Marlin's question "What would Dory do?" What would the character do is the main driver for each character's next step. I also delved more into their personality types, cognitive functions, and even their zodiac signs to understand and express them better and more authentically.
