My grandfather's history. He was born in Germany, a distant cousin of the Kaiser. He left at a young age escaping the husband of his married lover to come to the US where he moved to Wyoming to be a cowboy!

Hi, John, I'm waiting to hear from my publisher about that. I expect to have an answer at the end of this month. I have my fingers crossed. Thanks for asking!

I'd travel to Jo March's world in Little Women. It's a place and a setting that has always intrigued me. Having grown up on the start of the feminist era, I always thought that Jo was a feminist. She took it upon herself to support her family with her "scribblings." In fact, my secret idea of the perfect office was Jo's writing space in the March attic.
What would I do in Jo's world? I think I would want to be her best friend and partner in crime. She had an awful lot to teach as a fictional character. Yep, I'd love to spend a day or two walking beside her.

You and my Dad definitely share a mindset. One of my adventures is in Death by Blue Water, the first Hayden Kent book. Hayden comes up from a 120 foot dive breathing from the tank when her regulator fails. It was a heart pounding event in real life, and a skill I was glad to have been taught. To be honest, that is probably the hardest scene I have ever written. It happened ten years ago and it is still fraught with emotion.

I fear he was just a hired hand and had no ownership in the photos. I would like to do a pictorial of dive sites. It would be great fun, but I don't think I would offer the incomparable Stephen Frink any competition. The man is a genius with the camera.

Definitely a canvas. My view is of a wooded lot, but when I look out the window, all I see are the images in my mind. I love natural light, although my best writing time is in the dark.
My desk is my favorite place to write. There's something about sitting in this chair at this desk that tells me it's time to get down to the business of creating. That said, I'm prone to scribble on anything (my own palm included) when ideas strike.

Hi Norma, Much to my father"s disappointment, I have never searched for treasure. My husband did some photography on the Atocha for Mel Fisher back in the day. I also have some treasure hunting friends. While there are lots of wrecks, those in shallow water (depths I can dive) mostly belong to the State, and some are considered grave sites. All that said, after storms, treasure does get uncovered. I've not yet been lucky enough to find any, but I do keep an eye open! Good luck on the giveaway. Kait

Visiting Pigeon Key the day after Christmas. My husband and I biked out there - it's under the old Seven Mile Bridge. At the end of the road bed there is a ramp that goes down to the Key, if you go a bit further, you can see under the scaffolding that supports the roadbed - I saw a fully dressed scuba diver laying on the rocks rolling against the scaffolding in my mind's eye and I knew I had to discover his story.

I find myself possessed by ideas I can't escape. Then I get curious, what happened, what caused this scene, what happens next. One thing leads to another and before I know it, 5,000 words are on the page and I'm feverishly writing notes for the next day.

Currently I am working on the second book in the Hayden Kent series. It's tentatively titled Death by Doubloons. It takes place in the Florida Keys and has to do with treasure hunting.

Nothing new here - read everything you can and write, write, write, write. Don't be afraid to submit, and don't be put off by rejection. Instead, learn from your rejections. If you really love the characters or the story, recast it and re-submit it.

Everything. It is the only job I ever wanted. Meeting fans is a huge part of the fun. I love hearing their insights. I learn so much from what the fans say and ask.

I once saw a segment on 60 minutes about a woman who had written a gazillion (estimated number) of Harlequin books. She said when writer's block struck, she sat at her desk, notebook open, and wrote - anything - a journal entry, a doodle, anything - before long she was writing scenes for her WIP. I tried it, with a computer - I'd never be able to read anything I wrote by hand - and sure enough - it worked.
