Bren Moore Every night, the lighthouse shines across the bay — even though it’s been abandoned for years.
Sometimes, you can still see someone waving from the top window.
Bren Moore I’ve always been fascinated by Egypt — the history, the culture, the sheer magic of it. I’ve travelled the Nile a few times, and it never fails to inspire me. If I were to set a story outside Cornwall one day, that’s probably where it would be. ✨

I also love Italy — the beauty, the romance, the light — but my heart truly belongs to Cornwall. I live here, love here, and it still feels like the most beautiful, evocative place in the world. Every season tells a different story: wild winter storms, soft spring blooms, and golden summer skies.

As for fictional worlds — I’d probably choose Hogwarts from Harry Potter for its timeless sense of wonder, or Narnia, for that perfect blend of adventure and escapism. Both have shaped the way I see storytelling — worlds you can lose yourself in, yet always find a piece of yourself, too.

But honestly, Cornwall feels like a fictional world of its own sometimes — full of secrets, legends, and stories waiting on the tide.
Bren Moore I’ve read 24 books so far this year, and most of my summer reading has been the wonderful Sarah Bennett series — I’ve loved every one. 💙

I’ve also adored Jessica Redland’s Hedgehog Hollow, Starfish Café, Bumblebee Barn, Welcome to Whitsborough Bay — all so full of hope, heart, and healing.

Being Cornish, I naturally gravitate towards anything set by the sea, so Phillipa Ashley’s Cornish Tales, Like an Endless Cornish Summer, Return to Cornish Bay, and A Perfect Cornish Christmas have been perfect companions.

Ruth Jones’ Us Three, Love Untold, and Never Greener really moved me — funny, heartfelt, and unforgettable. And I’ve loved Sue Moorcroft’s Sister Sky trilogy and The Christmas Promise — full of heart and sparkle.

Of course, Jojo Moyes’ Me Before You series is always emotional and life-changing, and gems like Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gayle Honeyman, The Liar’s Wife by Samantha Hayes, and The Babysitter by Sheryl Browne have stayed with me too.

Stories like these — by such brilliant female authors — fill my creative cup. Over the past few months, especially this summer, I’ve been swept away, comforted, and inspired by some truly unforgettable books.
Bren Moore There’s a stretch of Cornish coastline I’ve walked hundreds of times, and there’s one place where the air always shifts — as if a story is waiting there, half-told. I’ve often wondered what memories the sea keeps, and what would happen if the past tried to reach out through the mist. That quiet, lingering sense of something unseen but felt has found its way into many of my stories — especially Between the Towans and Beneath the Towans’ Sky.
