Ariella Moon My first thought was Narnia, but then I remembered how much I hate cold weather. So timing would be ever so important! My second thought was Hogwarts. My closest friends are witches, so I would feel quite at home. And I am sure I would discover lots of inspiration for my Teen Wytche Saga, which is in the process of a relaunch with exciting new covers, new content, and new books!
Ariella Moon I adore Gail Carriger's Alexia Tarabotti series, and its delightful couple, soulless Alexia, and her beloved Lord Maccon, the most entertaining werewolf I have ever encountered. Carriger's imaginative steampunk vision of Victorian London, populated by werewolves and vampires, bursts with passion and humor. Readers will also root for the secondary romances that build quietly over the series.
Ariella Moon Never give up! Join a writing organization like Romance Writers of America, where you can hone your craft and meet industry leaders. Enter writing contests that have agents and editors as their final judges. Join a critique group. Limit your use of gerunds (ing words) and adverbs. And write every day.
Ariella Moon Young adults inspire me to write. Their issues cross socio-economic divides. Secrets. Friendships. First love. Sibling rivalry. Mental health. Fractured families. Foster and homeless teens may have these challenges plus so much more. So far, all of my royalties from the Saga have gone to charities that support teens aging out of the foster care system.

The magic in the Teen Wytche Saga is inspired by my personal experiences as a shaman and Reiki Master. For the upcoming fourth book in the series, however, I had to research voodoo, a system of magic foreign to me. I've learned a lot!
Ariella Moon What I love most about reading, is being transported into another world, whether it is Narnia or the 12th District, or a floating finishing school for spies. What I like best about being a writer is creating a magical world that others can live in for awhile.
Ariella Moon Ainslie, the main character in Spell Fire, is a teen battling obsessive-compulsive disorder and severe depression. Sadly, I know several teens (and adults) who suffer from mental illness. I've been thrilled by reviewers who have said the book helped them understand and have empathy for teens suffering from OCD. Some reviewers said Ainslie's struggle accurately reflected their own experiences.

The dragon magic and board meeting scenes in Spell Fire were inspired by personal experience. I am a shaman, and I was once a board member for a metaphysical mystery school. The pixie scene was adapted from a true incident that took place at one of our meetings.
Ariella Moon My best antidote for writer's block is to step away from the computer and walk my dogs or do housework. Productive mindless movement really helps clear the brain. In my case, a messy house is a sign I'm on a writing roll! My muse is a water spirit, so taking a shower or watering the plants also helps the ideas to flow.
Ariella Moon I am currently sprinting to finish the fourth book in my Young adult paranormal series, the Teen Wytche Saga. This one is turning out to be a bit of a thriller! The grimoire from the earlier books (Spell Check, Spell Struck, and Spell Fire) has morphed again, this time taking a dark turn.
